Karnala Bird Sanctuary, Panvel is the abode of local and migratory birds of 147 species of birds. It is located at the distance of 12 kilometers from Panvel on the Mumbai-Goa national highway. This region comes under the Raigad district of Maharashtra state in India. The area is also well known for Karnala Fort. Karnala Bird Sanctuary was built in the small area of 12.155 square kilometers. The government of Maharashtra has declared this small forest as a reserve forest area and given the status of Bird Sanctuary.
