Facts: The castle was built on the volcanic rock which is known as a castle rock. In the period of King David I, it was the main center of royal power in Scotland. It is present at the elevation of 130 meters. In the 12th century ownership of Edinburgh Castle switched from Scotland to England. But after few year it back to Scotland again. During World War I, castle used as a prison.
