It was built by Rajput king Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1798. Lal Chand Ustad had designed this building based on the crown of Hindu God Krishna. Lalchand Ustad also helped in the preparation of Jaipur city’s architectural plans. It was constructed with lime, red and pink sandstone.
At that time it was mandatory for women to cover their face. Women’s used Kerchiefs or Sarees to cover their faces. This palace was built for the women of the royal house can observe the activities of everyday life or street festivals.

This unique five-storey building, which is only one and a half feet wide from the top. In which there are 53 beautiful and attractive small lattice windows, called “Jharokha”. The cold air always comes in the palace through these lattice windows. Which is why the palace always remains the cold in the summers also. Design and construction work of this pyramidal shaped monument had done by architect Lal Chand Ustad.
This building is the part of City Palace of Jaipur. City Palace’s Royal Gate is used to enter in this Palace Of Breeze.

This beautiful monument is the 50 feet in height. On the back side of palace In front of the lower two floors, there is an open patio. There is also an archaeological museum in this patio. On the front side of the palace, there is the main street of the town.
Its every small window has very attractive and beautiful carvings of sandstone, Kangura, and dome. Its cultural and craft heritage is a unique blend of Hindu Rajput art and Mughal style. This Is the only palace built in Mughal and Rajput architectural styles. Mughal style carvings, beautiful arches made on the stone are the rare examples of Mughal craft. While The fascinating work of flowers, dome, and giant pillars are unique examples of Rajput art.
Hawa Mahal was the favourite place of Maharaja Jai Singh to relax because of its wonderful interior decoration. There is also an arrangement of fountains in front of all the rooms. These fountains were built to increase the effect of cold air during summers. Tourist can see the Unique craftsmanship of colourful mirrors in the windows of the Hawa Mahal. When the sunlight enters in the palace through these windows then whole room is filled with the rainbow aura. It has total 953 windows including all sizes. Top part of this wind palace is designed like a shape of Lord Krishna’s crown.
This palace is maintained by the archaeological department of Rajasthan Government. In the year 2005, after a long interval of nearly 50 years, the work of repair and renovation of the palace was done at large scale. The cost required for this was Rs. 45679 lakhs. This iconic Pink building of Pink city is certainly worth watching. Your Jaipur visit will be incomplete without visiting this monument.

By Road: This palace is situated on the main road in the heart of Jaipur’s business center. You can easily reach here by public or private transport. Nearest bus stop is Hawa Mahal bus station.
By Train: The nearest railway station is Jaipur junction. The distance between Jaipur junction to Hawa Mahal is around 4.7 kms. You can also use metro train services to reach this monument. Nearest metro station is Badi Choupadi. It takes 20 minutes to reach Hawa Mahal from Jaipur railway station by Metro.
By Air: The nearest airport is Jaipur International Airport. You can use a bus transport from the airport to palace. This travel required 35-45 minutes time. Metro transport is also available, but it takes 1 hour to reach this wonderful Rajput monument.
Private cabs like Uber, Ola are also providing their services in this metro city.

October-March is the best season to visit this historical palace. Avoid visiting this place during summers (March to June)
