Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary is located in the Sanand village of Ahmedabad district in Gujrat, India. Ahmedabad is most visited tourist city in Gujrat state. Sanand village is located around 60 kilometers from this wonderful city. Nal Sarovar bird sanctuary is well known as the abode of hundreds of bird species. We can see the thousands of migratory birds during the winter season. This 120 square kilometers long wildlife park is largest bird sanctuary present in Gujarat. It is made from 36 small islands.

Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary Entry Fees / Ticket Price

Entry is free for Child below 5 years. The government of Gujarat charges different entry fees for Indians and Foreigners. Visitors have to pay more amount as entry fee on weekends. Children between 5 to 12 years get the 50% concession on entry fees. Parking charges and boating charges are not included in this entry fee.

Indian Citizen (Monday To Friday): Rs. 75 per person
Indian Citizen (Saturday and Sunday): Rs. 85 per person
Foreigners (Monday To Friday): USD 10 per person
Foreigners (Saturday and Sunday): USD 12.50 per person
Professional Camera Charges for Indians: Rs. 200 per camera
Professional Camera Charges for Foreigners: USD 20 per camera

Following are the details of parking charges inside the sanctuary:

Two-wheeler: Rs. 10 per vehicle
Three/Four Wheeler: Rs. 20 per vehicle
Bus/Truck: Rs. 50 per vehicle

Boating Charges details as follows:

Visitors need to pay Rs. 200 per person to enjoy the boating experience. You can hire a private boat for your family, but only 6 members are allowed in one boat.
If you want to hire a guide then you need to pay around Rs 500/- excluding entry fees, boating charges and camera charges etc. But we suggest there is no need of guide if you are doing boating. Each boatman is a guide and he will give all the interesting details during the boating.

Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary Timings

The visitor may visit this sanctuary between the timings 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. But ticket window closes at 5:30 PM. The wildlife park remains open on all weekdays. Public holidays or Festival season may affect the timings. Try to avoid visiting in the afternoon during summer. Sanctuary remains closed during the monsoon season. Always keep your cap, water bottle and sunglasses with you.

It is spread over 120 square kilometers and made from 36 small islands. This sanctuary is nothing but the 4 to 5 feet deep marshland. The government declared this park as a “Bird sanctuary” in the year 1969. It connects the East Saurashtra with Central Gujarat.

Around 216 bird species found here which includes flamingoes, purple moorhen, rosy pelicans, crakes, white storks, herons, brahminy ducks etc. these birds come here by traveling thousands of miles from central Europe. Thousand of these birds made the park an ultimate destination for birdwatchers.

How To Reach Nal Sarovar Bird Sanctuary?

By Road: Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) provides the bus services from Ahmedabad to Nal Sarovar via Viramgam, Wadhwan, Sayla, Dasada etc. The distance between Ahmedabad and Nal Sarovar via Sanand is around 66 kilometers. You can also use a private taxi from Ahmedabad. Road connectivity is good and you can really enjoy this one and half hour journey.
By Train: Viramgam railway station is the nearest railway station and it is situated at the distance of approx. 40 kilometers from the sanctuary. You can use road transport from railway station to reach here.
By Air: The nearest airport is Ahmedabad airport and it is present around 64 kilometers from Nal Sarovar. From Ahmedabad you can use GSRTC public transport or private transport services to reach Sarovar.
